Campaign Fellows Program Requirements

  • Fellows must volunteer a minimum of 5 hours per week at a consistent schedule. In order to pass Proposition 30 and mobilize Korean American voters, we will be phonebanking (calling voters), precinct-walking (visiting voters in their neighborhoods), and be doing light administrative work.
  • Fellows must attend an orientation session as well as a training before the commencement of their volunteer work.
  • In addition, Fellows must either organize three (3) volunteers to come to KRC every two weeks, or register 20 new voters every two weeks in order to receive a stipend.

Phonebanking Hours will be Monday through Thursday from 5:30pm - 8:00pm, and precinct walking will be on Saturday mornings and afternoons.

What is Proposition 30 "Tax the Top" Initiative?

Because of tax cuts for the wealthy and budget cuts to social services, K-12 and higher education, the American Dream has been stolen out of reach for too many Korean American, immigrant, low-income, and communities of color. We must restore the American Dream by asking the wealthiest Californians to pay their fair share of taxes and invest in our communities' future. Under Prop. 30, there would be a 0.25% sales tax increase (1 penny per $4 hamburger) as well as income tax increases of 1, 2, or 3% on those earning $250,000, $300,000 or $500,000 respectively, or on married households earning $500,000, $600,000 or $1,000,000 an year. This will provide $6-9 billion in annual revenue to restore funding to education, public services, and critical social services.
